Kandy is known all over the world as the hill capital of Sri Lanka. Surrounded by hills and valleys and the lake in the centre of the city, it is a scenic place which attracts tourists world over.

The main attraction is the Dalada Maligawa or the Temple of the Tooth. Every year in July or August we witness the spectacular Esala perahera. People from all over the world visit Kandy during this season to witness this magnificent pageant which parades the streets of Kandy for ten nights. Besides the Dalada Maligawa there are many historic temples in and around Kandy. Kandy is thus a sacred city which is also famous for traditional arts and crafts. Hence we could say it is the cultural capital of Sri Lanka. Kandy is also listed as a World Heritage City.

About 120 kms away from Colombo,4 kms to pallekelle international cricket stadium, the main capital of Sri Lanka , Kandy is today a crowded city which attracts not only locals but people from both the western and eastern countries.
